Irish Apple Cake

Title: Irish Apple Cake

3 c Flour
3/4 c Sugar
1/2 ts Salt
3 Large egg yolks
Grated rind of 1 lemon
1 No 303 can applesauce about
1 3/4 cup
1/2 ts Cinnamon
1 c Butter
1/4 ts Cloves

Heat oven to 350. Grease square pan, 9 x 9 x 1 3/4. Mix flour, sugar, salt,
egg yolks, butter and lemon rind. Divide mixture in two parts; press one
part in bottom of greased pan. Mix applesauce, cinnamon, cloves and spread
on top of dough in pan. Sprinkle rest of dough over applesauce. bake 40-45
minutes or until it tests done. Serve warm topped with whipped cream, Ice
cream or lemon sauce.
